About Whitbread

More hotel rooms than anyone in the UK. Restaurants across the country. A growing portfolio of hotels at home and overseas. There’s no doubt that we are a hospitality force to be reckoned with. Join us and write a new chapter in our 280-year-old story. We’ll bring the best out of you, give you the buzz you’re looking for and create moments that you’ll remember forever. All with a team you’ll love.

You may not instantly recognise the name Whitbread, but you’ll certainly know our brands. Premier Inn, Beefeater, Brewers Fayre and Bar + Block are household names with a reputation for excellent service, value for money and a great guest experience.

It's a reputation built on the values of our founder, Samuel Whitbread, the ability to evolve our business around the needs of our guests and the 36,000 talented colleagues who are always there for them. After all, we are the hospitality experts. With more than 1,200 hotels and restaurants across the UK, Germany and the Middle East. And many more in the pipeline.

Opportunity is everywhere. For our business, our guests, and our fantastic people.

Nothing is more important to us than our people so we were delighted that once again Whitbread was recognised as a ‘Top Employer’ by the Top Employers Institute. For the 12th year in a row, global certification company The Top Employers Institute confirmed us as a Top Employer, recognition that only goes to those businesses that create excellent working environments. The accreditation involved a comprehensive and detailed analysis of the people practices across the whole of our brands as well as our support centre in Dunstable.

It covers areas such as talent management, culture and learning and development.

We are proud to say that Whitbread plc has a Gold award from Stonewall, the world’s second-largest LGBTQ+ charity, demonstrating our commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusion in the workplace.

As part of Stonewall’s Workplace Equality Index, which ranks the best organisations for LGBTQ+ employees, Whitbread came 1st in the leisure, travel and tourism sector.  This outstanding recognition is testament to our hard work to champion inclusivity and drive diversity across all under-represented groups, in line with our Diversity and Inclusion commitments.

Premier Inn Germany

Messages from our team

“In 2015 I walked into Wrexham Premier Inn and said “I want to work here”. I‘d stayed in plenty of Premier Inns around the country over the years and when the time came to leave the Forces, I thought ‘I want to work here because everyone’s always so happy!’. I was adjusting to life outside of the Navy. As part of the resettling scheme I chose Premier Inn and it only took a week to know I’d found a home. The week was lots of fun being with a mix of Housekeeping and Reception, although I preferred front of house as I loved speaking with guests. I only wanted part time because, technically, I’d retired.

I joined the Navy in 1978 as a Wren. I had 24 years’ active service, then spent 12 years recruiting for the Navy in schools and colleges all over Wales. Talking to young people about life in the Forces. I loved the life. It taught me independence, skills, leadership, organisation. The team laugh at me because I have to have my breakfast shifts here just so! And that’s the point - all your life skills will come into play in this business. Whatever you’ve done previously. I can use my skills here. I can encourage younger ones. If you’re a Petty Officer, Corporal, Sergeant, and you’re looking for a career, Whitbread offers promotions, progression – similar to what you’re used to in the Forces. You work hard, you’ll get rewards here."

Heath Reynolds served 23 years in the army working in Germany and carrying out training exercises across the world. He was also a member of the Special Forces and finished his career working in intelligence at Catterick.

He now works as a night porter for Premier Inn. Heath said: “I’m so proud to work for a business that acts as a force for good in the community. Being based near the garrison we have many guests from the armed services or who are families of army personal as well as retired personnel. Many of our team members also have connections to the armed forces, such as wives of the Gurkha regiment. "I really enjoy this as I feel I have an extra personal connection with our guests and team."
